MEROPS™ Premium Sweet Hungarian Paprika 113g / 4oz

I made Hungarian Goloush using this paprika, and my husband loved the meal. It added the right amount of sweetness and umami to my dish.

This review is for MEROPS Premium SWEET Hungarian Paprika.

The first thing you should know is that the vast majority of paprika you will find here at Amazon and on your grocer's shelf is NOT Hungarian paprika. Sometime it will even say "Hungarian style." But it's not actually Hungarian. Most of the brands I have found and used from here and local my grocer, source their paprika from Spain, Mexico, or the US. In fact, even at my local specialty spice stores it is impossible to find actual Hungarian paprika. Thank goodness for Amazon!

Why should you care? For the same reasons you might prefer wines from France, Argentina, and the USA, to wines from China or Pakistan.

Hungarian paprika is noticeably superior.

And this is the best I've ever used. The fragrance explodes in your nose when you open the package. And the depth of flavor is incredible. So much better than the stuff at your grocery store that it's like they aren't even the same product.

It's like the difference between fresh squeezed orange juice and frozen concentrate.

This paprika costs significantly more than the stuff at your grocer. But this really IS a case of getting what you pay for. This stuff is amazing and worth every penny.
