All stages of production are carried out in the Szeged Region, from sowing to packaging. What are the main characteristics of this Protected Designation of Origin (D.O.P.) Szeged Hungarian paprika that make it really special?
Thanks to the traditional millstone grounding used, the paprika is typically homogeneous in texture and is very fine. Depending on the pigment level, the paprika is bright fiery red or lighter red in color. The smell is intense, spicy and aromatic, similar to that of roasted vegetables as a result of the processes that take place in the paprika during drying. The flavor is typically sweet, reminiscent of ripe and roasted pumpkins and fresh garden plants, with a lingering, mild, pleasant spicy aroma. Szeged hot paprika has a characteristic spicy flavor in addition to the taste of sweet paprika.
